Property Seizures and Olive Tree Cutting Persist in Afrin

Our correspondent reports that a member of the “Mutasim Billah Brigade” recently sold a home belonging to Mohammad Said from the village of Derswan, located near the arch at the eastern entrance of Afrin city, to an IDP from Khan Shaykhun in Hama for $900, pretending to be the rightful owner.

The ongoing crime of cutting down olive and other trees by militias of the “Syrian National Army” continues unabated, despite the trees bearing fruit. In the villages of Bulbul, tree cutting is widespread. Recently, a group from the town of Hayyan in northern Aleppo cut down approximately 60 olive trees and six large walnut trees belonging to forcibly displaced resident Mustafa Amour Ali, who currently resides in the town of Al-Ahdath, north of Aleppo.

It is worth noting that following the unrest in Afrin at the beginning of this month due to protests against Turkey, the city’s markets remain in a state of stagnation.
