Our correspondent reports that Ali Ibrahim Al-Ahmad, an IDP, died on Tuesday, July 9th, after days of severe torture inflicted by Salem Jinbaz, leader of the “Border Brigade” militia. Al-Ahmad was arrested for attempting to smuggle into Turkey.
According to our correspondent, Al-Ahmad had been deported by Turkish authorities a few days prior and sought refuge with a relative in the town of Meydan Akbas in Rajo district, hoping to cross back into Turkey with the help of smugglers linked to the “Syrian National Army” militias.
However, he was detained by a patrol from the “Military Police” militia and handed over to the so-called “Border Brigade” under the command of Salem Jinbaz. Al-Ahmad was subjected to torture until he died in custody.
In an attempt to cover up the killing and evade accountability, the “Border Brigade” militia claimed that Al-Ahmad had committed suicide by hanging himself in prison, according to a report submitted to the so-called “Military Judiciary”.
