Our correspondent reports that early this morning, Wednesday, July 17, locals discovered the body of a murdered individual on the road between the villages of Khirbet Sharan and Midanki in the Sharan sub-district of occupied Afrin.
The body was severely mutilated and showed signs of burns. The residents promptly informed the military police and civil defense, who then transported the body to the forensic department in Afrin city.
Our correspondent identified the victim as 32-year-old Mohammed Afif al-Othman, originally from the town of al-Safira in eastern Aleppo. Al-Othman was on his way to the Turkish-Syrian border, attempting to cross into Turkey via smuggling routes. He had been missing for about a week after last being seen with smugglers traveling from Jarabulus to Afrin. He was reportedly carrying a significant amount of money at the time of his disappearance.
