Following Monday’s violent clashes in Afrin between armed protesters, IDPs, Turkish soldiers, and the “Civil Police” militia, which resulted in dozens of casualties, a tense calm has settled over the city.
Today, the bodies of those killed were buried amid a charged atmosphere, while the “Military Police” militia, reinforced by the joint forces of “Hamza Division” and “Suleiman Shah Brigade,” tightened control over the city, particularly around the old Saray building, the Turkish governor’s headquarters, according to our reporter in the city.
The city remains cautiously quiet, with most civilians staying indoors following the widespread use of weapons and significant damage to shops and buildings. Turkish intelligence, along with the “Military Police” and joint forces, are reviewing surveillance footage to identify and arrest participants in the protests and shootings.
