Widespread Theft of Sumac Harvest in Afrin

Our correspondent reports that the sumac harvest in Afrin and its countryside has been widely stolen before it could ripen, continuing the plundering of local residents’ properties since the area’s occupation in March 2018.

The correspondent clarified that armed IDPs and militants have stolen sumac from trees belonging to citizens near the Kafardaleh village junction in the Jindires sub-district. The affected owners are identified as Mohammed Ali, Adnan Omar, and Ahmed Arab.

Similar thefts occurred in the village of Hisê/Mirkan in the Mobata/Ma’tbali sub-district, affecting properties owned by Mohammed Hassan, Rezan Bakr, Mohammed Ali, Hikmat Mohammed, and Ahmed Bahjat.

In the town of Kakhreh, also in the Mobata sub-district, sumac was stolen from a land owned by Hassan Ismail, Mohammed Ismail, and Ali Ibrahim.

Additionally, in the village of Qasim in the Rajo sub-district, the sumac trees of Shukri Mohammed, Mohammed Sheikho, Ahmed Sido, Sido Mohammed, and Mustafa Bakr were also targeted by the thieves.
