Turkish Sniper Kills Syrian Man Trying to Reunite with Family

afrinpost – Exclusive

Today, a young man named Abu Hassan Zlakha, originally from rural Aleppo, succumbed to injuries sustained from direct gunfire by a Turkish gendarmerie sniper.

The incident occurred while he was attempting to cross into Turkey through smuggling routes in Idlib province, in an effort to reunite with his family—his wife and three children—whom he was forcibly separated from due to his deportation from Turkey.

Additionally, Turkish gendarmerie forces brutally assaulted Syrian youths deported through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing, confiscating their personal belongings and subjecting them to insults and verbal abuse. Despite possessing valid temporary protection identification cards (kimlik), around 40 young men were deported by Turkish authorities through the Bab al-Hawa crossing on Saturday.
