Kurdish Citizen Detained and Tortured for Ransom in Afrin

Our correspondent reports that approximately two months ago, the “Military Police in Afrin” arrested Kurdish citizen Rashid Ismail, aged around 40, who owns a motorcycle shop in the industrial area. Ismail was detained at his workplace on charges of being a member of the Industrial Commune Council during the previous autonomous administration. He has since been forcibly disappeared in a secret prison.

Sources within the police, likely aiming to extort his family, revealed that Ismail has been subjected to six types of torture, including “balanco” and electric shocks. The police are demanding a ransom of $20,000 for his release.
