Exclusive sources confirmed to “afrinpost” the abduction of Safwan Hussein, a 47-year-old resident of Aleppo, by unidentified gunmen. The incident occurred four days ago on April 23, along the road between the villages of Ghazawiya and Basouta in the Sherawa district of Afrin.
Hussein, who has been residing in Al-Mahmudiya neighborhood of Afrin since 2013, is engaged in the trade of cosmetics and accessories, owning a shop on Temo Street in the city center.
This latest abduction underscores the persistent threat faced by civilians in Afrin, particularly shop owners, who are targeted by unknown armed groups. The abductors have demanded a ransom of $15,000 from Hussein’s family for his release, with the grim implication of torture and death if the demand is not met.
