Amidst the closure of the Aleppo-Afrin road, militias operating from Nubl and Zahra abducted 20 displaced civilians from Afrin on March 28. Additionally, they confiscated five public transport vehicles, including one belonging to Khalil Sheikho from Quta – Bulbul, two from residents of Aqibah village, and two more from residents of Kafr Naya village.
The seized vehicles were transported to Nubl and Zahra cities, while several civilians were compelled to travel on foot to the Shahba region, according to our reporter.
In a countermeasure, Asayish forces established multiple checkpoints between the villages of Ziyarah and Deir Jamal, aiming to deter locals from heading towards Aleppo to avoid potential abductions. Furthermore, they detained several armed individuals and residents of Nubl and Zahra in an effort to pressure the militias into releasing the abducted civilians.
