Arresting Students for Brutal Attack on their Friend in Attempt to Obfuscate Truth

Following every crime committed by Turkish-allied armed individuals or IDPs, the arrest of citizens serves primarily to obfuscate issues and divert the course of judicial accountability, often resulting in the fabrication of additional charges for distraction, thereby absolving the true perpetrators of responsibility.

The Civil Police Militia in Mobata/Ma’batli town has arrested four Kurds in connection with the assault on Kurdish student “Shiyar Ibrahim Omar” (17 years old) from Qantara village. Shiyar was attacked and stabbed by IDP students, prompting the arrests. Among the detained students are “Farhad Haneef Muhammad” from Qantarha village, who is Shiyar’s classmate, and three others from Araba/Arab Ushagi village in Mobata town, as per a report by the Kurdistan Unity Party(Yekiti) dated 2/3/2024.

The incident unfolded on Sunday, 15/2/2024, within a classroom at Mobata High School, where Shiyar Omar was subjected to a violent attack aimed at taking his life. The assailants, four IDP students hailing from Aleppo and Hama provinces, wielded knives and a military bayonet, causing severe injuries. Shiyar was rushed to a clinic in Mobata town and subsequently transferred to Amanos Hospital, where life-saving surgery was performed. He remains hospitalized, with medical reports indicating deep and life-threatening stab wounds.

The group responsible for the heinous crime is led by a student named “Mohammad,” son of Sheikh “Abdul Salam,” leader of the “Sultan Murad” militia. Upon their arrival at the school, the attackers were armed with three knives and a military bayonet.

Following the assault on Shiyar, the same group attempted to assault a teacher who intervened to halt the attack, as well as another student who is a close friend of Shiyar. These actions underscore the premeditated nature of the crime and the intent to cause harm.

The aggressive behavior and history of bullying by the assailant group were well-documented, with this incident marking the pinnacle of their violence. Despite the incident being known for four months, no administrative measures were taken against the perpetrators, leading to speculation about administrative reluctance to address the issue.

In a separate incident on 12/6/2023, Kurdish citizen “Awfa Sheikh Ahmad” was brutally murdered in her home. The perpetrators, after robbing her, proceeded to stab and fatally wound Awfa before setting her house ablaze to conceal the evidence. Despite the severity of the crime, the main suspect, “Abu Samer,” was released by the military judge in Afrin, while Awfa’s husband, “Hanif Hanan Khalil,” and her brother, “Masoud Zaim Sheikh Ahmad,” were subjected to pressure, torture, and unwarranted arrest, only to be released after fines were imposed, despite their innocence.
