Release of Abducted Money-Changer After Paying Ransom in Afrin

On September 22nd, Mr. Abdelmohaymen Hassan, originally from the countryside of Hama, was released after paying a ransom of four thousand dollars. This sum was in addition to the money he had with him at the time of his abduction.

Unknown armed individuals abducted Mr. Abdelmohaymen Hassan, a 55-year-old money-changer working in the occupied city of Afrin, on the evening of September 7th. He was in possession of a considerable amount of money, estimated at fifteen thousand dollars when he was taken. The abduction occurred on the road between the villages of Ain Dara and Basouta in the central sub-district.

afrinpost also reported the Turkish intelligence’s arrest of Mr. Mohammed Jamea Al Khaleel, a 36-year-old resident of Arab origin in Afrin, on September 21st. He was apprehended at his residence in the Old neighborhood of Afrin on charges related to participating in nightly guard shifts during the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin.
