Our correspondent in Afrin reported that the Turkish-backed “Al-Hamza/Al-Hamzat” militia, has initiated a series of house raids targeting several Kurdish citizens. They have abducted six individuals on charges of affiliating with the previous Autonomous Administration in the occupied Afrin region. The motive behind these abductions appears to be extortion of their families through ransom demands and increasing pressure on the original Kurdish population.
On September 12th, the militia abducted three citizens: Ramadan Yousef Kalou (42 years old), Khalil Ibrahim Kalou (55 years old), and Mohammed Sami Najjar (40 years old) from the village of Kimar in the Sherawa sub-district.
Returning two days later, on September 14th, they abducted Ahmed Abdul-Hannan Hussein (47 years old), Mahmoud Abdul-Hannan Hussein (38 years old), and Nidal Ibrahim Haso (50 years old).
The total count of arrests and abductions during August 2023 reached 41 cases, including two women and a minor, with seven cases involving forcibly deported Turkish citizens. Fourteen cases of release were documented.
