Yesterday morning, August 18, the Syrian regime escalated its ground shelling using heavy artillery and rocket launchers, targeting positions held by the “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” organization on the fronts of Atarib, Kafr Amma, Kafr Taal, and Al-Qusur in the western Aleppo countryside. The regime also targeted positions in Sarmaniyah, Ankaoui, and Qarqoor in the Ghabin plain of Hama countryside. This offensive was accompanied by intensive Russian reconnaissance aircraft flying over the area.

On a related note, Mohammed Saleh Al-Youssef from the town of Al-Azmo in Aleppo countryside lost his life yesterday due to injuries sustained from shelling that had struck the town about ten days ago.

In the eastern Aleppo countryside, intermittent clashes erupted on August 17, between the Syrian regime forces and the militias of the “National Army” on the axis of Tadef town, east of Al-Bab. The clashes were accompanied by reciprocal artillery fire between the two parties.
