On August 17th, armed individuals affiliated with the “Hamzat and Amshat” militias launched a violent attack against an IDP in the occupied city of Afrin. The assault occurred after the IDP’s motorcycle accidentally collided with a vehicle belonging to one of the militia leaders.

A video clip circulating on social media pages associated with the “National Army” militias depicts dozens of armed personnel from the joint force engaging in the assault against an IDP originating from Harasta, a suburb of Damascus.

According to our correspondent, the motorcycle made minor contact with the vehicle of a militia leader, resulting in a slight scratch. In response, the militia leader summoned his members to the scene, where they proceeded to physically assault the IDP. Subsequently, they took him to an undisclosed location. The identity of the militia leader and the specific militia he is affiliated with remain unknown.

In a separate incident, military police checkpoint personnel from the “General Administration” militia brutally attacked an IDP from the town of Hayyan in northern Aleppo’s countryside on August 16th. This occurred following a verbal altercation at the entrance of the village of Qatma in the Sherawa subdistrict of occupied Afrin.
