“Suqour Hayan” Militants Destroy Olive Trees in Afrin

afrinpost – Exclusive

In a relentless practice of violations and trafficking in the livelihoods of Kurdish citizens in the occupied Afrin region, armed elements affiliated with the “Suqour Hayan” militia cut down 69 olive trees belonging to forcibly displaced citizen Jihad Mannan Habib from the Bulbul sub-district on July 7th.

The Afrin Human Rights Organization stated on its official Facebook page that the “Sultan Murad” militia has been cutting down over 5,000 trees from the pine forest located between the villages of Omara and Dikmedash in the Sharan sub-district since the beginning of this year.

It added that the Turkish authorities have cut down olive trees belonging to forcibly displaced citizen Khalil Abdullah in the village of Matina to build a new settlement consisting of 150 houses, in addition to IDPs cutting down the remaining trees and haphazardly constructing houses in their place.
