Kurdish Villager Attacked and Abused by Militia at Al-Bab Checkpoint

afrinpost– Exclusive

Members of a checkpoint affiliated with the “Sultan Selim Shah – Al-Amshat” militia assaulted a Kurdish civilian, “Mohammed Al-Hanafi,” from the village of Araburan in the vicinity of Qabasin, which is part of the occupied Al-Bab region. The incident occurred on Friday, June 30, 2023, as he was heading towards the town of Qabasin.

Our correspondent reported that the Kurdish civilian refused to pay the Eid fee to the checkpoint members affiliated with the Al-Amshat militia on the road to Araburan. This prompted the checkpoint members to use offensive language and brutally assault him, resulting in various injuries and bruises.

It should be noted that the National Army militias are tightening their grip on Kurdish civilians in the Qabasin area of Al-Bab, imposing extortionate fees on them and conducting occasional arbitrary arrests based on frivolous accusations. They are then held in prisons in order to extract financial ransoms from them.
