In a distressing incident, three armed individuals broke into the house of Hussein Tawson, a resident of Ashwana village in the Bulbul sub-district, on June 20. Exploiting the absence of Hussein and his wife, who had gone to the occupied city of Afrin for medical treatment, the criminals ransacked the property and made off with valuable belongings.
Our correspondent reports that the elderly citizen, Hussein Tawson, had entrusted his neighbor, Ahmed Bakr, with the responsibility of safeguarding his house during their absence. Little did they know that this act of trust would be violated by the criminals.
Under the cover of darkness, the three armed robbers cornered Ahmed, who was asleep in the courtyard, and forcibly subdued him. They blindfolded him and threatened him with death if he made any noise or sought help. With Ahmed under their control, the intruders proceeded to search the house, digging through its contents. They brazenly stole two cans of olive oil, along with $700 in cash, gas cylinders, and various pieces of furniture.
It is important to note that Ashwana village falls under the control of the Turkish-backed Turkmen militia known as “Sultan Murad.” The militia derives its name from Sultan Murad IV, one of the most influential and dangerous sultans of the Ottoman Empire. Unfortunately, the actions of this militia and the Turkish forces have brought immense suffering to the people of Afrin, with rampant human rights violations and disregard for the well-being of the local population.
