Turkish-backed Militia Leader Defies Afrin Military Police, Frees Detained Member by Force

afrinpost – Exclusive

private sources from Afrin reported that a patrol belonging to the Military Police militia in the city of Afrin, about two weeks ago, arrested a member of the “Suleiman Shah/Al-Amshat” militia on charges of drug trafficking. However, the leader of “Al-Amshat” known as “Abu Amsha” personally surrounded the Military Police branch, and his forces entered the headquarters and forcibly released the armed detainee.

“Abu Amsha” declared that the director of the Military Police militia, named “Ahmad Kabso,” must apologize for the arrest of his member, after “Kabso” had fled to the city of Azaz following the intrusion of “Al-Amshat” forces into the police station in Afrin.

Days after the incident, “Ahmad Kabso” returned through Turkish mediation and offered his apology to “Abu Amsha” at his headquarters in the town of Sheikh al-Hadid.

On another note, members of the “Al-Amshat” militia assaulted a member of the Military Police militia on May 16th, following a fight between the latter and an IDP. “Al-Amshat” forces intervened in favor of the IDP, loyal to them, against the police officer at the central post office in occupied Afrin.
