Yesterday, May 17, a 25-year-old young man named Alaa Al-Khalaf tragically lost his life after falling into a deep well in his village of Haseen in al-Shahba region of northern Aleppo.
According to our correspondent, local residents and rescue teams from the Autonomous Administration made valiant efforts to prevent the young man from drowning by pumping water out of the well. However, due to a lack of oxygen and the refusal of Syrian regime rescue teams in Aleppo to come to al-Shahba area, as well as the refusal of regime checkpoints to allow specialized rescue vehicles to enter, the young man passed away several hours after the incident.
The local community resorted to traditional methods of rescue, using a long rope and sending a person down by tying them to the rope. However, due to the narrowness of the well and the absence of necessary rescue equipment and tools, they were unable to extract him.
It is worth mentioning that Alaa was attempting to extract drinking water from the well for his home when he tragically lost his balance and fell into it.
