Yesterday, May 17, Turkish-affiliated National Army militias deliberately ignited fires in the wheat fields of Al-Sha’ala Village in al-Shahba region, in northern countryside of Aleppo. The intentional fires resulted in the destruction of dozens of hectares of land, while local residents struggled to contain the flames due to strong winds that caused the fires to spread to neighboring fields.
Earlier yesterday, large fires broke out in the wheat fields cultivated by local farmers in Ma’arbliet village in southern Idlib countryside. The fires were a result of intensive targeting by the Syrian regime forces on the outskirts of the village. Despite their efforts, the residents were unable to extinguish the fires due to their proximity to the frontlines between the Syrian regime and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) organization.
