Kurdish students prohibited from speaking their language at the Industrial School in Afrin

afrinpost – Exclusive

Private sources told afrinpost that an IDP teacher from Hama, called “Abdul Aziz,” who teaches Arabic at the Industry School in the city of Afrin, has racially prevented his students from speaking the Kurdish language.

This was by order of the school administration, in which it prevented the students from speaking the Kurdish language in the classrooms and the courtyard, which prompted the Kurdish students to object and go down to the courtyard, refusing to enter their classes until the ban was reversed. Knowing that the protest extended to the Girls Industrial School, Al-Ittihad Al-Arabi school, and the New Sharia School, the sources added.

Another IDP teacher from Hama countryside, called “Professor Ahmed,” is spreading religious extremism among his students too, in an elementary school in the village of Teranda, according to what was monitored by “afrinpost” on April 27, 2022.

The so-called “Professor Ahmed” separates males from females in the primary stage, and forces young girls who do not exceed ten years of age to wear the hijab, while preventing boys from wearing colored clothes or with shapes and drawings, and expels them if they broke his rules.

The policy of preventing the Kurdish language lie at the heart of the Turkish authorities policy. As when they took control of the region, they removed all the signs written in the Kurdish language and replaced them with Turkish and Arabic names.
