afrinpost – Exclusive

The Kurdish lawyer “Luqman Hannan,” who is 45 years old and from the village of Haj Qasma, has lost his life this morning, Thursday, in the “formerly martyr Farzanda” military hospital in the occupied city of Afrin, after being kidnapped by the Turkish-backed “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia and Turkish intelligence.

Our reporter in Afrin center confirmed that gunmen affiliated with the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia kidnapped the lawyer, “Luqman Hannan Hamid,” from his house in al-Mahmudiyah neighborhood, and confiscated his mobile phone and laptop, and took him to an unknown destination, on charges of selling a house of his client, who is a forcibly displaced person in Al-Shahbaa area, thus, without referring to the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia.

The reporter explained that one of the house was seized and inhabited by a family of a militant affiliated to Ahrar al-Sharqiya. After the lawyer sold the house and sent the money to the homeowner, the militants found out about it, so they kidnapped and tortured him, asking him to give them the money, even though the lawyer informed them that he had sent the money to the homeowner.

The Haj Qassem village page on Facebook also circulated the news of his death under torture, and other pages confirmed that one of the pro-Turkey militants, residing in the same building, snitched on him.

It is worth noting that “Luqman Hamid Hannan” was suffering from back diseases and walking with crutches. He was previously arrested by the Military Police militia in 2020 in al-Mahmoudiyah neighborhood of Afrin, in addition to being kidnapped by “Al-Amshat” militia, and he was released at that time after paying a ransom.
