According to our sources, IDPs from the town of Sharra, from the Al-Fawara clan, from Homs, stopped last Friday, August 5, the Kurdish girl “Zakieh Sido” (22 years old) and tried to beat her. They also tried, accompanied by a woman, to attack her home, where her widowed mother and 7-year-old brother live, on racial grounds.
The imam of the town’s mosque, Sheikh Muhammad al-Nabhan, intervened and sought to solve the problem. He addressed the abusers by preaching, and that it is not permissible to attack people unjustly. However, the young IDPs responded to the Sheikh who advised and scolded him and tried to beat him and threatened him asking him not to interfere.
The sources added that following the incident, the girl’s family filed a complaint with the Civil Police and the Security Forces of the town, but they ignored the complaint and threatened the girl’s family, through a mediator from the villagers, with liquidation if they did not withdraw the complaint.
