For more than a week, the Turkish-backed “Al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia in coordination with the “Anti-Terrorism” militia in Azaz, launched a large-scale kidnapping campaign targeting Kurdish people in the village of Maarska in Shara / Sharan district, on charges of dealing with the former Autonomous Administration with the aim of financial extortion, harassment and forced displacement .
According to our sources, the kidnappings started on Saturday, August 20, 2022, when “Ahmed Tobal Hamo” (45 years old) was kidnapped and is still being kept at the headquarters of the “anti-terrorist” militia in Azaz.
On Monday, August 22, 2022, the 50-year-old “Muhammad Ali Abu Hanan” was kidnapped and his fate is unknown.
Also, on Tuesday, August 23, “Muhammad Izzat Hajj Osu,” 34 years old, was kidnapped and is still being kept in Azaz.
Thursday, August 25, “Ahmed Bashir Khalil” (30 years old), was kidnapped and was released the next day, “Friday,” after paying a ransom of $1,500.
The sources confirmed that the Turkish-backed militias intend to kidnap more Kurdish people according to a wanted-list they have, and the one who prepared it is the so-called “Osman Izzat Tobal” the village’s chosen mayor appointed by the Turkish authorities. The list includes the names of 3 women, one of whom is his niece! It is worth noting that he is backed by the “Al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militants who hail from the village of Mara’anaz.
The sources indicated that this kidnapping campaign was led by the so-called “Abu Bakri”, who is from the town of Maryamin, and the security official in the village was “Othman Hamija Rahilu”.
