Turkish armored vehicle deliberately run over a Kurdish citizen in Rajo market, Afrin

afrinpost – Special

The citizen “Rasheed Subhi Mahmoud” (Mahik) Abu Subhi (44 years old), was killed at 11:30 am on Monday, June 20, after he was deliberately run over by a military armored vehicle belonging to the Turkish army in the middle of Rajo market in the northern countryside of Afrin.

The “afrinpost” reporter stated that the citizen “Mahik” is married and has five children. He owns a grocery store in the town of Rajo. He was trying to cross the main street, but the Turkish armored vehicle ran over him at in excessive speed, which led to his death directly as a result of a head injury.

The reporter added that a Turkish soldier stopped to take the body away from his path, and then continued on his way, without caring about the crime he had committed.

The IDPs gathered to attack the armored vehicle, and about 100 members of “military and civil police” militias mobilized to protect the armored vehicle and drive away the mob, but as soon as they learned that the deceased was a Kurdish citizen of Rajo, they retreated as if nothing had happened.

It is not the first incident of its kind, as a number of civilians died and others were injured in repeated run-over incidents by Turkish armored vehicles in Afrin, without the Turkish authorities taking any measures to deter the recklessness of the soldiers or protect the residents of the area.
