The elements of the security checkpoint of the Turkish-backed “military police” militia, located at the entrance to the city of Afrin (Al-Qaws checkpoint) attacked yesterday evening, Saturday, a Kurdish family and detained them for hours on suspicion of booby-trapping their car that broke down near the checkpoint.
According to our reporter, the members of the (Al-Qaws) security checkpoint detained the Kurdish family, consisting of Othman Aziz, 49, his wife, and their son Ahmed, 20, and Abdo, 17, for four consecutive hours. As they were suspected of car bombing, knowing that the young Ahmed was trying (being a car electrician) to repait the car, which broke down near the checkpoint while they were returning from the occupied city of Azaz.
The Othman family is from the town of Shieh/Sheikh Al-Hadid, but lives in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood in Afrin city.
The reporter added that the gunmen severely beat Othman and his family, and drove the family to its security headquarters in the city, and then released them after four hours of their detention. They were also forced to pay a ransom in exchange for their release.
