The Turkish-backed “Syrian National Army” militias occupying the region of Afrin were overwhelmed and celebrated the attack by the elements of the terrorist “Islamic State” (ISIS) on Al-Sinaa prison in Gweran neighborhood in the city of Hasaka, declaring their desire to join its ranks.

Private local sources confirmed to “afrinpost” that many members of the Turkish-backed “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia announced their desire to join ISIS in its war against the Syrian Democratic Forces in al-Hasakah Governorate.

They distributed sweets bearing posters congratulating the prisoners (members of ISIS), who managed escaping from prison.

On the evening of Thursday, January 20, at least 200 ISIS suicide elements launched an attack on the prison, which houses thousands of ISIS members, with car bombs, coinciding with the mercenaries detained in the prison attacking its workers, such as medical staff, kitchen staff as well as guards.

According to a statement by the Syrian Democratic Forces, issued today, Sunday, the prison is under its control, “measures were taken that thwarted all attempts to escape the mercenaries, and our forces are working to impose their control inside the prison as well … and combing operations continue by our forces in the neighborhood.”

The attack, which is the largest for ISIS since its elimination in March 2019, killed at least 120 people.

The statement added that, according to the confessions and testimonies of some ISIS mercenaries who were arrested; The leaders and officials of mercenaries are located in the areas occupied by Turkey, such as Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain, and the mercenaries in prison tried to escape towards those areas.”

Mr. Luqman Ahmi (the official spokesman for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria) confirmed that the attack “is a complex operation consisting of several parties, and those parties have prepared the ground for it through their joint media attack on the Syrian Democratic Forces, and the campaign’s goal is to thwart the Autonomous Administration, which represents hope for peoples in liberation and freedom.”

He added that the other side is “the Turkish regime and the terrorist groups (Syrian National Army) associated with it. The relationship between them and the terrorist ISIS is an organic relationship, and it cannot be differentiated between them, and many events indicate this, including when Turkey bombed a convoy of the Syrian Democratic Forces on the Al-Hasakah- Tal Tamr Road, heading to support its forces in al-Hasakah, and also mobilized its forces on the front of Tal Tamr to prevent the SDF from supporting its forces in al-Hasakah to confront the terrorist attack of ISIS.”
