The Kurdish academic Riyad Manla Muhammad said, in a post on his Facebook page, that he was released from a small prison to a larger one, referring to Afrin, which has become a large prison, days after his release after a long journey of enforced disappearance that lasted more than two and a half years in the prisons of the Turkish authorities.

Dr. Riyad expressed his feelings by saying: “I tell you that I did not feel I am released for a single moment .. because I got out of a small prison to a large one, which is the homeland .. our homeland is detained now”.

Dr. “Riyad” indicated that he was arrested on a false charge, as he put it, as he said, “I have never been a political, a terrorist, an armed man, a racist, nor fanatic of a religion or nationalism … I was and will always be a man of knowledge, whatever it is, I am a servant of humanity and everyone who needs me. Even these oppressors I will serve them with my knowledge.

Three years ago, the Turkish-backed militias seized all the possessions of the Kurdish academic, including “al-Asdiqa’” private school, which was turned into a hospital, “Jabal Hawar” restaurant was seized, his house and his elderly mother expelled from it.

Dr. Riyad was kidnapped on 9/23/2018 in Afrin, close to his home on the “al-Vellat Street” by the militants of “al-Hamzat” militia, although he initiated measures to settle his situation, and his family sought to release him by communicating with many parties. All that was in vain, and information was received from former prisoners that he was held in an earlier period in what is known as the al-Ziraa Prison in Al-Bab city. After 30 months of enforced disappearance, he was released on 3/7/2021.
