Trees were cut down in Cuqe and Ma’riske, and in the woods of Mydanki

The Turkish occupation and its affiliated militias of the Muslim Brotherhood continue to destroy the environment in the occupied Afrin region, by uprooting olive trees and unfair logging of forests, to create variables in the entire environment of life in the region and to achieve financial gains from firewood.

The afrinpost correspondent reported that armed elements cut down 30 olive trees from a field located after the junction of the village of Cuqe/ Jwaiq, owned by the Kurdish citizen Ibrahim Othman, a resident of the village.

In the same context, about 70 olive trees were cut from a field located between the villages of Kafar Meze and Ma’riske, owned by the displaced Kurdish citizen Ahmed Othman from the village of Qurtqilaq.

Meanwhile, the “Jaish al-Nukhba/ Elite Army” militants continue to illegally log and cut down forest trees in the forest overlooking Mydanki lake in Sharan district.

It is noteworthy that the frequency of olive tree cutting works increases in the winter for the trade of firewood for heating, and is carried out collectively by the militias for entire fields, or by armed men and settlers through random logging.
