Bedran Çiyakurd: Syrian regime must release our detainees, lift the siege on Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Shahba, and cease hostilities

afrinpost – Special

Bedran Çiyakurd accused the Syrian regime of cooperating with the Turkish occupation to strike the security of the region and create strife, pointing out that the regime’s call to restore the Adana Agreement confirms this, and believed that to reduce the tension between the two sides, the Syrian regime must release all detainees from our areas as well as lift the siege on al-Shahba and the Sheikh. Maqsoud, then the Autonomous Administration will respond to this file, he said.

Bedran Çiyakurd, Vice President of the Joint Presidency of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, said in a special statement to “afrinpost“, in which he shed light on the recent tension and the regime’s siege of Al-Shahba regions, where the forcibly displaced people of Afrin reside, and the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo.

Activation of the Adana Agreement

Çiyakurd stopped at the resistance of the mercenaries and the occupation in Afrin, on the other hand, the meetings and the agreement are secretly conducted with the occupier to target the existence of our people, pointing to Damascus’s recent demand to adhere to the Adana Agreement between Turkey and Syria, and considered it an explicit call in the joint escalation against the Autonomous Administration and QSD in northern and eastern Syria.

In a general description of what the regime is doing, he said: “They are doing the same thing as the Turkish occupation.

He added: “They carry out intelligence activities in the Autonomous Administration areas, form sleeper cells and distribute weapons to them with the aim of striking stability by carrying out some terrorist operations such as assassinations, bombings and inciting the masses, and in the city of Hasakah, it has forcibly mobilized its soldiers and employees against Asayish checkpoints of the Autonomous Administration. We have documents proving this matter, and the security squares have become a threat to the stability of the region.

In an overall assessment of what is happening on the ground, Çiyakurd considered that these actions establish strife, strike relationship and peaceful coexistence, and undermine the will of the components of the region, and considered that “the Turkish threats and the movements of the Syrian regime come simultaneously and within coordination, to put pressure on the Autonomous Administration to retreat from its gains, but we will not tolerate hostile activities that aim at sabotage, demolition and sedition. ”

Ways to reduce tension with the regime

Badran Çiyakurd explained the way to reduce the tension and overcome it, saying: “To reduce the tension between the two sides, the Syrian regime must release all detainees in our regions who are in the prisons of the regime, and the administration will respond to this file, and it is also necessary for the regime to completely lift its disgraceful blockade on al-Shahba and Sheikh Maqsoud. And to stop the intelligence work and the attempts aimed at striking stability and creating strife between the Kurds and Arabs in particular.

The city of Hasaka had witnessed security tensions between the elements of the National Defense and the Asayish forces, and before that in the city of Qamishli, and Russia entered the line of negotiations between the two parties with the aim of reducing the escalation. It also actually reinforced the deployment of its forces by about 300 soldiers in the city of Hasaka and other areas, but the tension continued.

While the siege has been imposed for about a month on the areas of al-Shahba and the entry of food and fuel is prohibited, two days ago, tight security measures began at the regime’s security checkpoints at the entrances to the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and inspection procedures are being taken, and long columns of cars are lining up at the checkpoints at the entrances to the two neighborhoods, awaiting inspection.
