All the measures announced to reduce the powers of the checkpoints and reduce their exposure to the people of Afrin, the Kurds are just an advertisement to empower the reality of the occupation, as the checkpoints still practice provocative behaviors against them, and the institutions created by the Turkish occupation issue racist instructions to determine job opportunities for Kurdish citizens to serve the demographic change plan in the smallest details .
The afrinpost correspondent reported that the Political Security militia checkpoints at the entrances of Afrin require only Kurdish youths to obtain an “acquittal” paper, and if it is not presented, they are subject to investigation and arrest, which leads to the limitation of the movement of citizens and their movement to conduct their affairs.
On the other hand, the checkpoints are still asking for phones from passers-by to search them – especially the junction of Kokan village checkpoint, which is under the control of the military police militia and Turkish forces. Although the public statement had previously issued a decision banning the search of civilians’ mobile phones at the checkpoints after many complaints, the decision is not implemented.
In a related context, the so-called Muhammad Zaidan, the Attorney General of the Occupation, issued a decision, requiring any Kurdish youth to apply for any job with the occupation institutions, to obtain an acquittal, noting that this decision does not include settlers.
It is noteworthy that most Kurdish citizens have been arrested on fabricated charges and have paid ransoms, so the so-called “criminal record” will appear as convicted, and thus the decision aims not to appoint Kurdish citizens in any job that helps them meet the requirements of life and face the high prices.
