Archaeological site was razed in Badina, in the countryside of Afrin …with tracked vehicle of the Turkish occupation

Afrinpost – Special

The Turkish occupation authorities and their militias continue to search for archaeological burials through excavation, digging and sweeping works against many archaeological sites in various parts of the occupied Afrin region, using heavy machinery to search for archaeological treasures on the one hand and erase the historical and cultural identity of the Kurdish region.

In the context, Afrinpost learned from its reliable sources that the Turkish occupation authorities, about two weeks ago, carried out excavation and sweeping works at the archaeological site of “Sarinca Shabo / Jib Shabo” located on the road leading to the town of Badina in Rajuo district, using tracked vehicles.

The sources indicated that the continuous excavation work is carried out in broad daylight, and that it affected the neighboring olive field as well, causing extensive damage to the field.

Observers believe that targeting historical and archaeological sites is one of the “targets” that the invading Turkish forces and the militias affiliated with the National Army had set their sights on, as the warplanes of the Turkish occupation army targeted, 01/28/2020, the archaeological site of Ain Dara in Afrin, This led to the destruction of the archaeological Ain Dara temple square with several air strikes, noting that the area did not contain any fighters, and it is not a clash zone, meaning that the targeting was directed at the destruction of the unique temple, and after the completion of the occupation, special teams went to it and finished what was left of the hill.
