Afrinpost-Special
The correspondent of “Afrinpost” in the center of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria, this morning, Sunday, monitored the departure of four military trucks belonging to the Turkish occupation army from a military base stationed in the center of the region, and heading towards the district of Jenderes.
The reporter explained that the trucks were loaded with military equipment and left the Turkish military base in Al-Feel street in the Al-Sharafiya neighborhood, indicating that they headed towards Jenderes and from there to the Hammam border crossing, considering that these trucks are the first batch in preparation for the complete evacuation of the base and handing over the buildings that were included in the military base to its owners.
At the beginning of 2019, the Turkish forces had taken residential buildings as their main military base in the center of Afrin, after they had expelled their residents from them, and that the expulsion process was followed by a comprehensive looting campaign for the homes located in that residential block.
The number of residential buildings on the site swallowed about 30 residential buildings (four floors), in which the “Al-Takadum” school is in the middle of them, and it was taken by a military base after cutting the streets leading to it with dirt mounds and barbed wire, installing spotlights and deploying snipers on the roofs of residential buildings.
A number of tanks were stationed at the base, and the “23rd Division” militia guarded the base, which is located in Al-Feel street – behind the former Asayish Center – in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood in the city center.
