Afrinpost correspondent reported that Liwa al-Shamal militia affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood organization, has established about twenty small shops in the vicinity of the municipal stadium and within its precinct on the south side near Azadi Square (previously), in order to sell some shops and rent others to settlers.
The correspondent added that what the militia is in front the eyes of the local council established by the Turkish occupation authorities, but it does not express any objection to that. Since it has no powers to take any action.
It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities granted the lands located within the headquarters of the youth and the municipal stadium (previously) in favor of establishing a settlement inside the city and the issue passed without the objection of the head of the local council in Afrin and members of the technical office.
In July, the militias of “Sultan Murad” and “Liwa al-Shamal” began construction work in the vicinity of the municipal stadium, including buildings and shops for investment.
On 7/21/2020, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the militias deliberately exploit public facilities to collect money, and that the “Sultan Murad” and “Liwa al-Shamal” militias have established buildings and shops in the vicinity of the stadium in Afrin and rented them for their benefit.
