The Turkish occupation councils conduct a population census in Afrin to find out the percentage of the demographic change

Afrinpost – Special

Yesterday, Tuesday, the Turkish occupation councils (local councils) launched a population census process in all areas of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria, under the direction of Turkish intelligence, according to Afrinpost sources.

The sources indicated that the committees formed from the quorum of workers in the education sector in the occupation institutions have started a demographic census process that focuses on the age group between (6-18 years), indicating that the census includes both indigenous people and settlers.

The sources added that in every village, town or neighborhood there is a special committee formed of teachers, and it visits all families and records the triple name for the specific age group, suggesting that the Turkish intelligence seeks through this census to find out the percentage of the indigenous population of this particular age group, and to ascertain the extent of and the percentage of success of the demographic change plans.

Since the beginning of its military occupation of the region in March 2018, the Turkish occupation has formed formal councils affiliated with it in Afrin center and its six districts, whose tasks are reduced to legitimizing the settlers and militants’ appropriation of the property of the original inhabitants of the displaced Kurds.
