Kurdish citizens in the villages of Afrin have been unable to go to the center of the city of Afrin, which is only a few kilometres away from them, for more than a year ago for fear of violations by the armed militias of the Islamic militia in the Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria, while they were free to move and go to Afrin city during the period of the Autonomous Administration, in order to buy goods and needs.
In the context, the citizen Dilsoz, a pseudonym for security porpuses, who is a resident of a village in the Afrin countryside, said that he had not been able to go to Afrin for more than a year, and added to “Afrinpost“: “The military police checkpoint in the village of Trinda, adjacent to Afrin, scares the Kurdish civilians especially young men. ”
“This checkpoint raises questions like you are a Kurd, with whom you worked before, did you work for autonomous-administration, tell us and we will help you, you are at the age of compulsory service, have you joined the autonomous-administration ?, waiting for the citizen to give a wrong answer in order to take money from him” . Dilsoz added: This prevents me from going to Afrin. ”
Dilsoz also pointed to additional details showing the state of intimidation that they live, which prevents them from living their lives according to the lowest constituents, and among those minor incidents that indicate the extent of intimidation, he said that “his close friend invited him to his wedding, to help in managing the affairs of the party, but he could not go for fear of being kidnapped on the road. ”
For his part, the young man, “Khalil / a pseudonym for security purposes” said that he, too, had not been to the city of Afrin for nearly a year, and added to “Afrinpost”: “Afrin has changed, I cannot see these faces occupying my city, I dare not going for fear of being kidnaped and extortion of my family, we cannot go to Afrin, which is supposed to be our city. ”
As for the young woman, “Beri \ pseudonym”, she was also away from the center of Afrin more than a year ago, and did not see her city, and she added: “I am afraid of the violations that occur there, and of the explosions that occur on a daily basis, and I am also afraid of kidnapping.”
