Some media (especially the Libyan) started talking about the killing of militiamen of the Islamic militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood who are known as the “Syrian National Army” and attributing them to Afrin, which provoked resentment among the indigenous Kurdish people of Afrin.

One of the media outlets called “Akhabar Libya” said that “press sources revealed that the Syrian mercenary, Omar al-Hamwi, who is known as Abu Mahmoud, was killed during the confrontations against the Libyan armed forces in the axis of AL-Mashrou” in Tripoli during April 2020.”

The media outlet continued: “The sources indicated that the Syrian mercenary was born on January 1, 1995 and a resident of the city of Afrin in Aleppo Governorate, Syria, belonging to the militia of (Muhammad al-Fateh Brigade) under the command of the pro-Turkish (Al-Turkmeni) leader.”

Accordingly, the Libyan media outlet attributed the dead militiaman to Afrin, although his name indicates that he is from the city of Hama, and works for the Islamic militias that occupy Afrin, and thus the condition of Afrin, as is the case of Tripoli, as cities occupied by the Turkey and their tools as the Muslim Brotherhood.

In this context, a Kurdish citizen from the city of Afrin called “Abu Walat” said that this connotation of the armed man with Afrin, which indirectly indicates that he is a resident of Afrin, is disapproved by the indigenous Kurdish people of Afrin.

The displaced Abu Walat, who lives in Al-Shahba added that it is unfortunate that “ Afrin indigenous people are being confused with the settlers who were brought by the occupation, and they are satisfied that they are used as tools by the Turks, as the militias of the Libyan Al-Wefaq government do.”

Following: “The majority of the people of Afrin by 75% are displaced in Al-Shahba, East Euphrates and Aleppo, in addition to about 25% of them remaining in Afrin, where they suffer from the brunt of the Muslim and Brotherhood occupiers, and it is impossible for them to have contact with groups that spread terrorism wherever they are, and the evidence is that The killed gunman was named Hamwi, meaning he is from Hama.

He continued: “It is therefore not permissible to attribute these mercenaries to our land, and the media should be accurate in presenting information, and indicating that Afrin is occupied, and that these people have invaded our land.
