600$: The price of a two-second call with a young man missing since a year and a half

Afrinpost – Special

Afrinpost correspondent in the center of the Mobata / Maabtli district of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin, said that the Islamic militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood continue to kidnap a Kurdish youth from the village of Qantariya / Qantara, in the district, for more than a year and a half, preventing communication with his family.

The reporter confirmed that the young man (Ronak Muhammed Ibish), aged 25, was kidnapped in June 2018 from his home in the village of Qantariya / Qantara, and added that the youth’s relatives tried to pay large sums of money to find out whether their son was alive or not.

He went on to say that an armed militia from the Islamic militia gave the young man’s relatives a month ago a very short call, in which he said “I am still alive”, without allowing him to explain his detention or health, for the sum of 600 USD.

The correspondent added that the families of the kidnapped young man assigned a lawyer from the people of Azaz, who in turn received $ 500 USD in exchange for seeking his release, but without being able to do anything for them.

According to activists, most of the Afrin abductees are in “al-Ra`i prison”, and in June 2018, activists estimated the number of abductees in that prison to be between 700 and 800, including approximately 50 females.
