Turkish-backed “Syrian National Army” (SNA) militias have been accused of committing extensive violations against Kurdish residents in recently occupied villages in the Sherawa sub-district of eastern Afrin, according to reports.
Our correspondent has reported that the Hamzat militia, a component of the “Dawn of Freedom Operations Room,” has allegedly carried out arbitrary arrests targeting dozens of Kurdish civilians who remained in their homes in villages such as Abbin and Aqiba, as well as in Deir Jamal, north of Aleppo.
In addition to the arrests, the militia is accused of widespread looting of properties in the occupied villages. This includes the theft of all assets from a battery factory located near the village of Al-Ziyara in Sherawa, owned by Hussein Mohammed Mustafa, a resident of Baadina currently living in Aleppo. The stolen items reportedly included finished batteries, raw materials, and a truck.
It is worth noting that several Kurdish villages, known as the “belt” of Nubl and Zahraa towns, had been under the control of the Afrin Liberation Forces since the Afrin region’s occupation in March 2018. However, on December 1, Turkish-backed Islamic militias announced their capture of these villages, which include Burj Qas, Kundi, Meyaseh, Zarnait, Kalouta, Soghanakeh, Khreibkeh, Ziyara, Abbin, Aqiba, and Kashtaar.
