Our correspondent reported today that the “Military Police” militia detained Khaled Fayad al-Hussein, 52, an Arab resident in Afrin, from his home in Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood without stating the reasons. Khaled recently arrived in Afrin, fleeing the conflict in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Turkish authorities released Abdulrahman Abdo, 43, a resident of Badina in Rajo sub-district, after imposing a $600 fine. Abdo was initially detained on October 13, 2024, shortly after his deportation from Turkey, under accusations of past employment with the Autonomous Administration.
Separately, the “Anti-Terrorism Police” militia freed Nidal Qalandar, 41, from Mabeta/Maabatli sub-district, in exchange for a $5,000 ransom. Qalandar had been detained on September 26, 2024, from his residence in Afrin.
Additionally, Mohammad Hussein Ali, 41, from Qatma village in Sharan sub-district, recently arrived in Afrin after his release by Syrian security forces. He was detained on September 31, 2024, near Homs while fleeing Lebanon’s conflict, and his family paid $2,500 in bribes for his freedom.
