Turkish authorities yesterday released 44-year-old Hussein Omar from the town of Bulbul after a 15-day arbitrary detention by the “Political Police” militia in Afrin.
According to our correspondent, Omar was accused of participating in night guards during the previous autonomous administration. A $400 fine was imposed on him, and his family paid an additional $800 in expenses and bribes. He was detained a week after returning home from Aleppo.
Additionally, the “Hamza Division” militia freed 54-year-old Taher Muhammad Shukri from the village of Dargir in the Mobata\Meabatli sub-district. Shukri had been held for 17 days in a prison run by Al-Hamza Division in Basuta and was released after his family paid a $3,000 ransom. He had been arrested on June 7th in Al-Mahmoudiya neighborhood of Afrin.
