Our correspondent reports that IDPs from the Homs countryside cut down 38 olive trees and 6 large walnut trees on Thursday, May 16, near the cemetery of the village of Awkan in Bulbul district. These trees belonged to local resident Arif Ibrahim.
The act was reportedly carried out for the purpose of logging and selling the wood, part of a broader trend of systematic deforestation affecting natural and cultivated woodlands, as well as hundreds of thousands of olive and fruit trees, since the region was occupied in 2018.
