With each agricultural season, incidents of crop theft by armed individuals and their associates persist, as local residents find themselves unable to protect the fruits of their labor and the lands they have nurtured with both effort and investment.
In a recent occurrence, IDPs stole grape leaves from the vineyards of residents in the villages of Hisê/Mirkan, Brimjah, Shitka, and kaxrê, all located within the Mobata district. These stolen goods were then sold in the markets of Afrin city at a price of 75 Turkish lira per kilogram.
Among the affected citizens are Mohammed Ibrahim from the village of Brimjah, Mustafa Ahmed from the village of Mirkan, Khalil Jaafar and Ali Ali from the village of Kaxrê, and Ahmed Ibish from the village of Shitka.
On April 24th, “afrinpost” reported that Failaq Al-Sham militia imposed a financial levy amounting to 50% of the net sales on the power of attorney owners, without contributing to plowing, hiring laborers, or covering other expenses during the cultivation season. They even appointed supervisors to accompany Kurdish locals to Al-Hal market in Afrin city to oversee the sales process.
