Pro-Turkey Militias Impose Financial Levies on Eid Al-Fitr in Afrin and Azaz

On Eid al-Fitr night, today, April 9th, military police and “al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia impose financial levies under the guise of “Eidiyah” on passing vehicles at their checkpoints at the entrances of the occupied cities of Afrin and Azaz, north of Aleppo.

According to our correspondent, the checkpoint known as Al-Qaws, belonging to the military police militia at the entrance of Afrin city on the Afrin – Aleppo road, imposes a financial levy of 100 Turkish liras on private cars and 300 Turkish liras on freight and public transport vehicles (minibuses).

The checkpoint, also under the control of the military police militia in the village of Kafr Janna in the Sharan district, rural Afrin, imposes a levy on owners of private and public vehicles ranging from 200 to 300 Turkish liras depending on the vehicle’s load.

Additionally, the joint checkpoint between the military police militia and the al-Jabha al-Shamiya at the entrance of Azaz city imposes levies on owners of private and public vehicles ranging from 200 to 300 TL for public vehicles, 150 TL for private cars, and 400 TL for owners of large trucks.
