Pro-Turkey Militia Frees Detainees for Ransom in Afrin

Last night, February 16th, the Turkish-allied Military Police militia in occupied Afrin released three individuals: Tahir Al-Hassan (35 years old) from the Salqin area, Abdul Qader Al-Ahmad, known as Abu Thaer, from Khan Sheikhoun, and Abu Hameed from Tal Mins, in exchange for a fine of $1500 each.

According to our sources, the released three individuals were detained by Turkish forces on February 6th on charges of espionage for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near the Terenda camp in occupied Afrin.

Afrin Post has documented a total of 68 cases of arrest and abduction since February 1st, 2024, including 4 women, a child, and 4 IDPs. Among these cases are 5 incidents involving citizens returning from Aleppo, 40 abductions at checkpoints manned by Shiite militias in the cities of Nubl and Zahra, and 28 cases of release
