On January 13th, a disturbing incident unfolded as Turkish border guards (Jandarma) violently assaulted 16-year-old Khaled Ahmed Fakhri Al-Saleh from the town of Hayalin in the Hama countryside. The minor was targeted while attempting to enter Turkish territory through smuggling routes, subjected to brutal beatings, thrown into a pit, and later abandoned in Syrian territory. Locals rushed him to Babila Hospital in the Idlib countryside in critical condition.
In a tragic parallel event, Ahmed Najdat Al-Ahmad Al-Qudban, a young man from the Al-Touqan clan, lost his life after drowning in a trench strategically constructed by Turkish forces near the Syrian-Turkish border in the Idlib province. This trench aimed to thwart smuggling activities into Turkey. Civil defense teams successfully retrieved the young man’s body, navigating the complex situation with permission from Turkish forces.
