Kurdish Citizen Reclaims Home in Afrin After Two-Year Struggle

afrinpost – Exclusive

Our correspondent reported that Kurdish citizen “Khalil Jumaa” from the village of Qarahgul in the Bulbul district reclaimed his home on December 30, after two years since his arrival in the occupied city of Afrin from Aleppo.

Located near the Newroz roundabout, Khalil’s house was unlawfully occupied by an IDP originally from the Damascus Ghouta region named “Alaa Jaber,” also known as Abu Abdo al-Jubrani. Alaa Jaber, a former member of the “Jaish al-Islam” militia, refused to relinquish the property over the past two years. Ultimately, Khalil had to pay him one thousand dollars to restore his seized home.

On December 21, afrinpost documented another case involving an IDP from the town of Einjarah in western Aleppo countryside refusing to vacate the residence of citizen “Ahmed Othman” from the village of Hasandera. The House, situated in Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood of Afrin city, led to threats of abduction or violence if Ahmed filed a complaint with the relevant authorities.
