Turkish Intelligence Arrests Kurdish Citizen, Unjustly Sentencing Others in Afrin

Turkish intelligence has apprehended Majid Osman, a 55-year-old resident of Khalka village in the Jindires district, on November 23. Osman is accused of being a member of the neighborhood council during the previous autonomous administration of the region in Afrin.

The Afrin court, operating under Turkish control, issued a controversial verdict on November 15, imposing a three-year prison sentence and a two-thousand-dollar fine on four Kurdish villagers from Jalameh village in the Jindires district.

The detained individuals are Mohammad Mustafa Bnafsha (30), Jumaa Mustafa Awan (27), Jumaa Mohammad Kalkhlo (28), and Mustafa Mohammad Cholak (26). They are currently held in Afrin’s central prison in the village of Marateh.
