Turkish authorities persist in contravening international laws prohibiting occupiers from transporting citizens into their territories and trying them before their judicial bodies. Six Syrian detainees were transferred through the Hammam border crossing on charges of collaborating with opposing entities, as reported by North Press Agency on November 17.

Quoting an administrator from Kafr Janneh Prison in the Shera district, the agency disclosed that “Turkish intelligence moved six detainees from Kafr Janneh Prison to its territories through the Hammam border crossing with Turkey around 5 PM on the same day.”

The detainees were identified as Nour Abdan (24 years old), Nizar Abu Al-Ata (30), Jalal Al-Mohammed (27), Omar Zana Shahin (32), Wissam Musto (25), and Jumaa Qasim (23).

The source clarified that these detainees, like hundreds of others, were held in Kafr Janneh Prison on charges of collaborating with opposing entities without concrete evidence against them, based on previously prepared investigation reports.

The issue of transferring detainees from Syrian territories to Turkey has recurred, with Human Rights Watch issuing a report on February 3, 2021, documenting the Turkish forces and affiliated militias’ illegal transfer of Syrian detainees and their trial in Turkish courts. These detainees faced charges of serious crimes unsupported by legal evidence, leading to unjust judgments and lengthy prison sentences.

afrinpost” previously reported on August 22, 2023, the arrest of Kurdish citizen “Nadir Khalil Khillo” (48 years old) from the village of Sanara in the Sheikh Al-Hadid district. He was detained under the pretext of his previous dealings with the former Autonomous Administration in the occupied Afrin region. After two weeks of detention, he was transferred to Turkish territory and subjected to severe beatings during his captivity.
