Turkish Authorities Release Detained Kurd with Imposed Fine in Afrin

On November 7, Turkish authorities released Mr. Suleiman Abdul Rahman Mohammed, a resident of the town of Shara/Sharan, after imposing a fine of $1,300 on him. This comes after a month of his detention within the occupied city of Afrin.

Turkish authorities had arrested Mr. Suleiman, aged 35, on October 11, from his residence near the Al-Shawakh Mosque in the Old City of Afrin, approximately 20 days after his return from the city of Aleppo.

afrinpost” has documented a total of 38 cases of detention and abduction during October 2023, including three women and a minor. Ten of them were citizens who had recently returned to Afrin. Furthermore, 16 cases of release have been recorded. The arrests also involved six IDPs.
